The Second Common Mistake Bloggers Make

I've said over time that It's important to choose a blog topic that you're passionate about. If you don’t, then you'll end up getting bored and tired with your topic

Hey beautiful people,

How's your weekend going?

So far this week, we've been tackling the biggest mistakes that bloggers make. These mistakes are incredibly common but once you stop making them, EVERYTHING about your blog transforms. Stats and income would begin to go up, and stress goes down.

So this is the second mistake most bloggers make:

Talking about what YOU wish to talk about instead of what your READERS want to talk about.

I've said over time that It's important to choose a blog topic that you're passionate about. If you don’t, then you'll end up getting bored and tired with your topic.

But, it's an easy mistake to flip that knowledge into your blog being all about you.

I mean realistically, if you know you should talk about the things you’re passionate about, then doesn’t it make sense to talk about all of the things you love?

To be totally honest, no. That’s how you end up with blogs that have topics like health, parenting, art history, etc … all in one blog.

Like seriously, Your blog shouldn’t be about you. It should be about serving the needs of the audience and readers you've built up. Having an avatar that centers around a single person solves a lot of these issues.

Make your blog topic something that your avatar would type into Google.

Talk about the things that your avatar would actually type into a search engine in her real life to find solutions and answers.

This is a Bad example of a blog topic: 'A political blog to teach women who aren’t into politics, about politics.'
This just wouldn’t work- because women who aren’t into politics wouldn't search for help with politics.

On the other hand, this is a Good example:
'Yoga, for overweight women who are interested in Yoga, fitness and healthy living but are intimidated and overwhelmed. '
This would completely work because those women would search for help with Yoga from the perspective of someone larger than the typical Yogi.  Am I Right?

Note: If you’re similar to your avatar (and we often are), think of the things that you’ve typed into Google over the years to identify your topics and get post ideas.
